Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the USEFP Humphrey Fellowship, applicants must demonstrate a strong commitment to serving Pakistan. They should be Pakistani citizens with 8 to 18 years of progressively responsible work experience. In addition, candidates must have completed 16 years of education—either a four-year Bachelor’s degree or a combination of a two-year Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree. Furthermore, they must show proof of re-employment in Pakistan upon completing the fellowship. Applicants also need a high level of fluency in both spoken and written English. Importantly, successful candidates should be prepared to take on leadership roles within their professional fields.
Ineligibility
The program does not accept applications from university teachers or researchers who lack management experience or leadership responsibilities. In addition, individuals who have studied at a U.S. graduate school within the past seven years, or who have spent extended periods in the U.S. during the last five years, are not eligible. The fellowship also excludes individuals who hold dual U.S.-Pakistan nationality or have a spouse, parent, or child over the age of 18 who is a U.S. citizen or permanent resident. Moreover, employees of the Fulbright organization or the U.S. Department of State cannot apply.
