Margalla School on Energy Climate 2025
The Margalla School on Energy and Climate (MSEC) is an initiative aimed at fostering education, research, and professional development in the fields of energy and climate. It integrates technical training with insights into policy frameworks, environmental sustainability, and socio-economic dimensions relevant to Pakistan’s energy landscape. The platform is designed to empower individuals and organizations by providing resources and training to address pressing energy and climate challenges effectively.
The Margalla School on Energy and Climate (MSEC), powered by Renewables First (RF), addresses Pakistan’s rapidly evolving energy landscape by equipping future energy leaders with essential skills and knowledge. As Pakistan’s power sector has grown significantly over the last three decades—doubling its capacity in just 15 years—MSEC’s program offers a comprehensive curriculum blending technical training with critical insights into policy, environmental sustainability, political dynamics, economic challenges, and social dimensions.
Eligibility Criteria:
- Preference will be given to females and individuals from remote areas.
- Currently living in Pakistan.
- Age between 20 – 35.
- Recent graduate or final-year student in Engineering, Social Sciences, Economics and Finance, or Environmental Studies, or early career professionals.
- Demonstrate commitment toward renewable energy and sustainability.
- Possesses effective communication skills.
- Committed to actively participate in the program and apply acquired knowledge.
Program Provisions
- Eligible projects and ideas receive grant support, giving participants the resources to bring their sustainable solutions to life.
- A two-week intensive program focused on power sector planning and operations, energy transition towards cleaner technologies, and practical strategies to mitigate climate change. Participants will also have sessions to enhance their leadership skills, develop a growth mindset, and become capable of driving positive change in their area of expertise.
- Accommodation and meals will be provided. Participants are responsible for their own travel costs (limited need-based travel grants may be provided)
- Engage in practical workshops to gain skills and insights directly applicable to renewable energy careers and projects.
- Connect with professionals in the renewable energy sector, creating pathways to career opportunities and industry knowledge.
Required Documents
- A project idea focused on community impact in energy or climate is required for the fellowship, with potential to grow into a sustainable organization, initiative, or startup advancing climate action or energy solutions. (Promising projects will qualify for additional support, including grants or up to one year of incubation.)
- Updated resume.
- Recommendation/Reference letter.
- A Compelling statement of purpose, highlighting the participant’s future goals and ambitions, and how they connect with their experience and current work.
