KNB Indonesian Government Scholarship 2025-26

Brief Overview
  • KNB Scholarship is a financial aid program by the Indonesian Government for students from developing countries to pursue Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees in Indonesia.

The KNB Scholarship is a financial aid program offered by the Indonesian Government to international students from developing countries. It provides opportunities to pursue Bachelor, Master, and Doctorate degrees at top universities in Indonesia.

The scholarship was first introduced in 1992 during the 10th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Conference. Initially, it was exclusive to NAM member countries, but due to growing global interest, its regional restrictions were lifted in 2002, allowing students from various developing nations to apply.

Today, the KNB Scholarship is open to students from Asia, the Pacific, South America, Africa, and Eastern Europe. It aims to strengthen international relations and foster the growth of future leaders in recipient countries.

With 34 partner universities in Indonesia, the program offers high-quality education along with an immersive cultural experience. Scholars benefit from academic excellence, global networking opportunities, and the chance to study in one of the world’s most diverse and vibrant societies.

KNB Scholarship Program will be given to international students who have fulfilled administrative
and academic requirements at 31 (thirty one) universities in Indonesia, ie: Institut Pertanian Bogor,
Institut Teknologi Bandung, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember, Politeknik Elektronika Negeri
Surabaya, Universitas Airlangga, Universitas Atma Jaya Yogyakarta, Universitas Brawijaya,
Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Gadjah Mada, Universitas Hasanuddin, Universitas Indonesia,
Universitas Islam Indonesia, Universitas Katolik Parahyangan, Universitas Muhammadiyah
Malang, Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta, Universitas Negeri Malang, Universitas Negeri
Semarang, Universitas Negeri Surabaya, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Padjadjaran,
Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Sebelas Maret, Universitas Telkom, Universitas
Syiah Kuala, Universitas Dian Nuswantoro, Universitas Sanata Dharma, Universitas Wijaya
Kusuma Surabaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Universitas Lampung, Universitas Negeri Jakarta,
and Universitas Jenderal Soedirman.

The scholarship offers in 2024 fiscal year is Doctoral (S3), Masters (S2) and Bachelor (S1).

To get the KNB scholarship, prospective scholarship students are required to fulfill administrative
and academic requirements (requirements and registration procedures attached) and register online
via the website www.knb.kemdikbud.go.id.

    1. Download the KNB Scholarship Offering Letter from KNB Scholarship website : https://knb.kemdiktisaintek.go.id/
    2. Applicants contact the Indonesian Representative in your origin country (from the embassy of Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia only) and submit all administrative and academic documents requirement such as: a. Curriculum Vitae; b. Scan of valid passport; c. English Proficiency Test (Applicant from non English-Speaking Countries); d. Recommendation Letter from The Employer/Immediate Supervisor (in English or Bahasa), e. Academic Recommendation Letter from Previous Schools (in English or Bahasa), f. Academic Certificate and Academic Transcript from previous degree (in English or Bahasa) that has been legalized by the Ministry of Education and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the applicant’s country, g. Recommendation letter from the potential research supervisor in one of the universities providing partner of the KNB Scholarship (for doctoral applicant only), h. statement of purpose of their studies in Indonesia (for doctoral applicant only) in English or Bahasa to Indonesian Representatives to get letter of recommendation from Indonesian Representatives;
    3. Representatives of the Republic of Indonesia (embassy of Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia) collect data and review all documents requirement for Recommendation Letters from prospective KNB Scholarship applicants, especially regarding the applicant’s educational background (for example: Grade Point Average, Final Diploma, Institutional Reputation), work history (if any) and the validity of the documents submitted by the applicant as a basis for providing a Recommendation Letter (applicants cannot register without a recommendation letter from the Indonesian Representative in the relevant country);
    4. After obtaining a Recommendation letter from the Indonesian Representative, prospective KNB Scholarship applicants are welcome to register online via the KNB Scholarship website (https://knb.kemdiktisaintek.go.id). Please note that, KNB Scholarship Management only accept the recommendation letter from the Indonesian Representative in your origin country (from the embassy of Republic of Indonesia or Consulate General of Republic of Indonesia only) that signed at 2025;
    5. All required documents must be scanned into electronic documents in .jpeg or .jpg format with a maximum size per file of 300kb to avoid technical problems when uploading files due to poor internet connection or interference with the server;
    6. Please note that, one applicant only have one account to register in KNB Scholarship website, so make sure that all your document requirements are complete and correct before you finish the registration;
